Desecrated Deck Ritual Cards

Rock, paper, scissors. Simple rules — cursed consequences.

Every card is a decision. Every decision has consequences.

You are not just playing — you are part of the ritual.

About Desecrated Deck

Desecrated Deck is a first-person psychological horror card game built in Unreal Engine 5. You begin your journey in a decaying basement, inside a ritual circle, facing a spectral opponent. Every round begins as a cursed version of Rock-Paper-Scissors. Win, and you may earn the chance to reveal an Item Card; lose, and the ritual can quickly turn against you. There is no deckbuilding here, only a tense one-on-one confrontation with limited lives, where every choice can carry deadly consequences.

Beyond the familiar Rock, Paper and Scissors cards, the ritual introduces two additional types of cards: Items and Perks. The six Item Cards each carry a different price. The Revolver and the Burning Witch can take a life from your opponent, and the Plague Doctor can restore one of your own. The Blind Man grants an additional Item Card, while the Thief reveals a hidden Perk. Then there is the Hangman, who makes you pay in your own blood. Perk Cards work differently: they bend the rules of the round itself, reflecting an attack back at its source, blocking Item effects or reshuffling the Item Cards. Only one Perk can control a round at a time, and together these cards turn a simple guessing game into a dangerous balance between greed and survival.

What makes the ritual so unsettling is the world around it. Played entirely in first person, Desecrated Deck puts you in direct confrontation with its spectral opponent. Candles flicker, unexplained sounds break the silence, and disturbing events unfold as the ritual progresses. While the basement is where your journey begins, the planned full game will take the ritual to other haunting locations, including a graveyard and an attic. As the ritual unfolds, you can no longer be sure whether you are only playing the game, or whether the game is playing you.

The Story Behind the Cards

The cards may be more than instruments of a supernatural game. Beyond the ritual, mysterious artifacts hint at a disturbing history connected to them: where they came from, who possessed them, and what purpose they once served. Each object holds a fragment of the past, waiting to be discovered and examined. Piece by piece, these discoveries may reveal what lies behind the ritual.
