You Are Part of the Ritual

This is not a traditional deckbuilder. Every round begins with a direct Rock-Paper-Scissors confrontation between you and the spectral opponent facing you. Win, and you may get the chance to reveal an Item Card. Lose, and the ritual can quickly turn against you. With limited lives and supernatural cards constantly changing the situation, even a simple choice can carry deadly consequences.

Six Item Cards. Six Ways to Change the Game.

The ritual contains six Item Cards, each with its own effect. The Revolver and Burning Witch can take a life from your opponent. The Blind Man gives you another Item Card, while the Thief can reveal a hidden Perk. The Plague Doctor can restore a lost life. But not every card is there to help you: reveal the Hangman and the price is your own blood.

Once either side has exhausted its six Item Cards, both Item pools are reshuffled and the cycle begins again.

Supernatural Perks

Perk Cards can change the rules of an entire round. The Cursed Mirror can reflect an attack back toward its source. The Poisonous Mushroom suppresses Item Card effects. The Tombstone prevents an Item Card from being revealed and forces the confrontation to begin again. And when the Oracle appears, both Item Card pools are reshuffled, destroying whatever certainty you thought you had.

Only one Perk can control a round at a time. Knowing that something is waiting is one thing. Knowing what it will do is another.

The Horror Doesn't End with the Cards

Desecrated Deck is played entirely from a first-person perspective. The cards, the pentagram and the spectral opponent exist directly in front of you, placing you inside the ritual rather than above it.

As the confrontation progresses, the basement reacts. Candles flicker. Strange sounds break the silence. Unexplained events interrupt the game, and the presence across from you becomes increasingly difficult to ignore. The rules may be written on the cards, but the horror is not confined to them.

There Is a Story Behind the Cards

At first, the Item Cards appear to be pieces of a supernatural game.

They are not.

Outside the ritual, artifacts and Lost Tapes reveal fragments connected to the cards and their origins. Objects, recordings and traces of the past gradually suggest that the stories behind Desecrated Deck may have existed long before you ever sat down to play.

How much of that history you uncover is up to you.
